Functionalization of single-walled carbon nanotube sensors for highly sensitive and selective organophosphor vapor detection

Abstract: A chemiresistive sensor based on the functionalized semiconducting single-walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) networks for highly sensitive and rapid detection of organophosphor (simulant of nerve agent sarin) vapor have been developed. The SWNT network was functionalized by solid acid. This functionalized sensor could detect organophosphor vapor at parts-per-billion (ppb) concentration with the response time of less than 2 min, without the need of pre-concentration of the analytes. Moreover, this functionalized sensors could be recovered when organophosphor vapor is replaced with referencing gas.
